About the role
These are exciting times for adult social care in Medway as we work with partners to embed locality based, generic strength-based practice.
The Head of Adult Specialist Services is responsible for a range of services, including:
- Integrated Discharge Team based at Medway Hospital
- Targeted Reviews
- Occupational Therapy
- Safeguarding and Quality Assurance
- NHS Continuing Healthcare
- Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
- Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
- In-house provider services, including Shared Lives, Community Mental Health Outreach services, and Learning Disability Respite
In addition the post-holder will lead on elements of our Adult Social Care Transformation Programme and represents Adult Social Care at events locally and nationally.
In Medway we aim to support people with social care needs to maintain and regain their independence through strengths based practice - making use of the resources available to them in their networks and local communities. We are forging even closer partnerships with NHS colleagues and are striving to increase the take up of direct payments and other forms of self-directed support.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Management or Leadership. You will be an inspiring and motivating manager, having extensive experience of improving the performance of teams and individuals. You will also have substantial experience of the management and delivery of Adult Services, strategic level planning and service transformation within a complex local government or similar environment.
Your enthusiasm and passion will help you to develop new strategies and positive outcomes, your calm and focused approach will enable you to support your teams to work together and deliver excellent services, which really make a difference.
You will be a great communicator, with exceptional negotiating and relationship building skills, as well as strong analytical skills.

- Degree or equivalent level in Management or Leadership
- A relevant professional qualification, i.e. Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Nurse qualified
