We’re proud in Medway to be recognised amongst Impower’s Top 15 councils for “high outcomes, low spend” in Adult Social Care simply because of what that means for our service users. External validation is great, but it doesn’t stop here. Of course, we’ve done all of the obvious things; improving DToC, promoting a strengths-based approach, the three-conversation model and a refresh and restructure of the team. So, what’s next?

The new Assistant Director will need to bring significant experience and leadership to further develop and embed, not disrupt, the new structure. This means influencing and refining a culture which sees us getting the fundamental basics right in our quality of practice. A focus on that detail is critical, but without losing sight of the bigger picture – because this a key corporate role too. You will have a high level of autonomy operating within a supportive Directorate and Corporate Team structure. At a time of broader health and care reforms within  Medway the appetite and ability to operate effectively in an emergent multi-agency leadership platform demands an exceptional individual to forge and enhance key relationships with partners, with patients, service users and carers at the culminating point.

Envisioning strategy and grounding that in operational delivery at a time of change is not for the faint-hearted. Innovation and creativity are essential, as is an understanding of the potential digital has to play without losing face-to-face contact with some of our most vulnerable residents. Refreshing the strategy for the next phase, developing the team and ensuring “high outcomes, low spend” are the enduring characteristics which will make for an outstanding leadership role in Medway.

In return we offer you:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Generous local government pension scheme package
  • Access to wider training and development qualifications
  • Flexible working scheme
  • Travel plan discounts
  • Access to CAREFIRST advice & counselling service
  • Employee discount scheme for national and local retailers
