We are currently recruiting for a Placement Officer to sit within the Children’s Partnership Commissioning Team.

Are you friendly and engaging? Are you good at negotiating? Do people like talking to you? Can you drive a hard bargain? Are you good at remembering things? These are the skills that we need today. In return we can offer a friendly team, a busy schedule, and rewarding work delivering the best we can for a population of vulnerable young people.

As a placement officer you will represent the local authority in purchasing and brokering external resources for Looked after Children and Young People. There will be administrative as well as customer services roles. You will need to act within the local authorities’ processes, Safeguarding procedures and under the Children’s Act. Your job will be to ensure that a high standard of quality and care is purchased and delivered for these young people.

We are looking for someone who has a good standard of Microsoft Outlook or other email skills and excellent MSWord and Excel or other spreadsheet skills. We also want someone who can use their own life and work experience knowledge as well as their creativity to act sensibly and ensure all placement referrals are responded to quickly and appropriately. You will also be asked to contribute to meetings with service providers to ensure services are continually reviewed and improved. Supporting the quality assurance of placements will also be an element of your work so you will need to be organised, calm, resourceful and thorough.

In return we offer you:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Generous local government pension scheme package
  • Access to wider training and development qualifications
  • Flexible working scheme
  • Travel plan discounts
  • Access to CAREFIRST advice & counselling service
