We are recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to join our 2nd Line support team. This role has responsibility for the build, installation, maintenance and decommissioning of desktop hardware, including PC’s, laptops, tablets and handhelds, and periphery desktop equipment such as printers, scanners and multi-functional devices, together with support for remote access to the service. This role has responsibility for the installation of telephony on the desktop and network patching as required, and switch/router support and configuration, providing a front-line support service to the customer.

To provide advice to service users regarding new sites, infrastructure, network and service requirements and to submit technical proposals and budgetary figures for small sites.

To carry out site surveys including wireless and fixed connections on behalf of customers. To install, setup and decommission VoIP handsets and telephony and to programme VOIP handsets for all corporate sites and those opting onto the solution for schools. You would be required to have knowledge on: 

  • DHCP
  • DNS
  • VoIP handsets
  • Wi-Fi & VLANs
  • Windows

Essential Qualifications: 

  • Educated to a GCSE, BTEC or NVQ standard or equivalent. 

Essential Experience: 

  • Providing support services within a medium to large organisation supporting multiple sites whose crucial business process rely on the stability and availability of the network for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Experience of Cisco LAN, internet, intranet connectivity (configuration of switches, firewalls and routers) and troubleshooting
  • Working within an ICT-related environment supporting Desktops, Laptops and associated peripherals.
  • Experience of solution finding for network connections for remote sites such as hardware choice, software set and production of budgetary quotations.
  • Experience and configuration of Microsoft Server DNS and DHCP services in a corporate environment.
  • Experience of configuration and setup of VoIP telephony services including analogue and digital devices.
  • Desktop experience of supporting a Microsoft environment including Windows XP, Windows 7, Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a general understanding of PC and network security
  • Experience of maintaining network/asset databases.
