An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service as the Principal Social Worker for children. As a registered social worker with you will have a minimum of five years post qualifying experience of working with children, young people and their families, together with substantial post qualifying experience of managing social workers. You will be required to manage a team of Advanced Practitioners and report directly to our Head of Service for Safeguarding and Quality Assurance. You will have excellent organisational skills alongside the capacity to meet demanding targets to ensure best outcomes for children.

In Medway we are ambitious for all our children and families. We are looking for a strong professional who can join our Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service to lead and oversee excellent social work practice, ensuring it is the best it can be.
As Principal Social Worker you will work closely with specific teams and social workers and will be the lead for several specialist areas and practice improvement. You will role model, support and champion best practice across all service areas contributing to the continuous efforts to deliver outstanding evidence-based practice. Ideally you will be Signs of Safety trained.

The Principal Social Worker is critical to driving improvements to bring about positive outcomes in children’s lives. As part of your quality assurance function you will monitor and evaluate the quality of practice across Medway’s Children’s Services; you will actively contribute to the arrangements for case work, audit, quality assurance and performance management; use influence, knowledge and experience to contribute to the development of social work practice and positive outcomes for children.
