Election Staff
The Returning Officer for Medway Council is seeking applications of interest from members of the public who wish to be part of a pool of casual staff for election related work within the Borough on Polling Day.
At every election the Returning Officer relies on dedicated additional staff to support the democratic process. The vital roles played by these staff ensure the smooth running of the elections. Polling station staff ensure that voters are able to cast their vote in secret, free from influence and in a calm atmosphere.
We welcome applications from Council staff or other residents of Medway as long as they are aged 18 by the date of the election.
All staff employed by the Returning Officer must be absolutely impartial and will be required to sign a statement to confirm that they have not and will not canvass for, assist or openly support a campaign for a particular political party or candidate at the forthcoming election. Election staff are entitled to belong to a political party but should not take an active part like being ward or constituency secretary for example.
Please see the attachment below for further information about the role.
The next scheduled elections are the Police & Crime Commissioner on Thursday 2 May 2024.
Completed applications must be submitted no later than midnight on Sunday 3 December 2023.
