An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Internal Audit team within the Internal Audit & Counter Fraud Shared Service between Medway Council and Gravesham Borough Council.

The Internal Audit team are responsible for carrying out reviews across the many services delivered by both councils, to ensure the right processes are in place and to help the councils achieve their objectives. This apprenticeship is unique in that it will allow you to gain wide-ranging understanding of how two councils operate, as well as the services they provide, and will give you the opportunity to directly add value to those services. No two days are likely to be the same!

As part of this role, you will gain experience by assisting with the following tasks:

  • Undertaking research
  • Gathering evidence
  • Analysing data
  • Writing reports
  • Negotiating actions
  • Responding to queries

Through this apprenticeship, you will also have a great chance to gain the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors’ Internal Audit Practitioner designation, a nationally recognised qualification not only for the public sector, but the private sector too. This qualification will open a path to further qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors’, should you decide that internal auditing is the career for you, which are widely acknowledged by most employers of internal auditors.

* Training salary of £200 per week, for first 12 months.  If aged 19 years or over, after 12 months service, the training salary will increase to the relevant National Minimum Wage rate for the remainder of the apprenticeship programme. 

Applicants must be able to demonstrate all essential requirements as listed in the job profile, including a minimum of GCSE Maths & English and be willing to work towards achieving the Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner qualification (we are happy to accept predicted grades for individuals awaiting GCSE / A Level results).
