An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic individual to join the Environmental Engagement Team within Environmental Services.

We are looking for a Community Warden to join our Environmental Engagement team, who will work as part of a small team representing Medway Council as the first point of contact within the community. You will be working to resolve environmental issues and those relating to public open spaces to promote our ‘cleaner, safer, greener communities’ through engagement and education.  The applicant should understand the councils plan and priorities and how they will contribute towards these goals. The successful applicant will be self-motivated and be able to attend community meetings to engage with residents, businesses, groups, schools and other stakeholders on initiatives and projects to build greener, stronger and safer neighbourhoods across the Medway towns. The post holder will educate the public on environmental issues, access to services and promoting good citizenship and responsible dog ownership.

You will be key in contributing towards marketing and promotional environmental campaigns, events, and exhibitions.  You will use social media to promote the Councils priorities, activities, and achievements and you should have a good understanding of Microsoft packages such as word and excel in order to keep accurate records of time and activities.

The post holder will also be involved in the emergency planning role of the council to act as a forward control officer as directed by the Councils Tactical Officer which can include out of hours work at short notice and will require the post holder to be suitably trained as a 4x4 driver.

 

Applicants must hold/have the following:

  • A current full manual driving licence (part of the role will be to drive a 4x4 when required)
  • An outgoing personality and be able to communicate with people at all levels.
